TalePatch ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Google Sign-In:

  • If you choose to authenticate using Google Sign-In, we receive:

  • We use Google Play Billing (Android) and Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) for subscription management
    • We do NOT store your credit card information
    • Payment processing is handled entirely by Google/Apple
    • We receive only subscription status and receipt validation

3. Content You Create

Books and Documents:

  • PDF and EPUB files you import (stored LOCALLY on your device)
  • Book metadata (title, author, cover)
  • Bookmarks, highlights, and notes
  • Reading progress and position
  • Downloaded offline audio files

IMPORTANT: Your books and reading data are stored ONLY on your device. We do not have access to your imported books or reading content.

How We Use Your Information

    • Provide text-to-speech functionality
    • Sync your settings across devices (if applicable)
    • Store your reading progress

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

  • Books and Reading Data: Stored locally on your device using SQLite database
  • App Settings: Stored locally using AsyncStorage
  • Secure Credentials: Stored in device keychain/keystore
  • Offline Audio: Stored in app-private directories

Cloud Storage

  • Authentication Data: Stored securely on Supabase servers
  • Subscription Status: Stored to verify premium access
  • Optional Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics (can be disabled)

Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit
  • Encrypted password storage (never stored in plain text)
  • Secure token-based authentication
  • Regular security audits
  • Access controls and monitoring

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  • Supabase - User authentication and subscription management

2. Text-to-Speech

  • Replicate (Kokoro TTS) - Cloud-based text-to-speech generation

    • Data: Text content you choose to convert to speech
    • Note: We do NOT send your entire book, only text you actively listen to

3. Advertising (Free Version)

  • Google AdMob - Contextual advertisements

4. Analytics & Error Tracking (Optional)

  • Sentry - Crash reporting and error monitoring
    • Privacy Policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/
    • Data: Error logs, device information, app version
    • Personally identifiable information is automatically scrubbed

5. Payment Processing

  • Google Play Billing / Apple In-App Purchase
    • We do NOT have access to your payment information
    • Handled entirely by Google/Apple

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

All Users

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export: Download your data in portable format

Data Retention

  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active
  • Usage Data: Retained for 12 months for analytics
  • Error Logs: Retained for 90 days
  • Deleted Accounts: Data permanently deleted within 30 days

Children's Privacy

TalePatch is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete such information.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  1. Service Providers: With third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, customer support)
  2. Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government regulation

We do not use cookies in our mobile app. However:
